Following the tradition of Derby Day events across the globe, black & white takes centre-stage and racegoers are encouraged to dress to this style theme (but it's not a requirement, including for the day's fashion competitions).
A dress code does apply in many areas including the Ascot Stand & hospitality precincts.

The national fashions in the field final, The Ned Prix de Fashion*, returns to Vodafone Derby Day
with a $20,000+ winner-takes-all prize package and the title of being the country's best-dressed racegoer awarded to the winner.
BUT to make it into the big event, you must first qualify.
If you haven't won a regional qualifying event, you've still got one in four chances to qualify on the day by entering into the Hawaiian Airlines Qualifier Round. Entry into this competition is open to female racegoers aged 18yr+ and is free*. The four women deemed best dressed by judges will each win 100,000 Hawaiian Airlines air miles AND qualify for the regional final of The Ned Prix de Fashion which takes place later in the day.
Men aren't forgotten either with the Hawaiian Airlines Menswear Award* also taking place on the day which will see the best dressed male take home 100,000 Hawaiian Airlines air miles and three nights at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort.
