Featuring the $1 million Group One Vodafone New Zealand Derby; the national fashions in the field final - The Ned Prix de Fashion - plus the Hawaiian Airlines Menswear Award; the Jordan Luck Band playing live; free children's entertainment and a host of other races & entertainment in support, Vodafone Derby Day combines the best of everything Auckland Cup Week has to offer.

The greatest end-of-summer celebration, get your social life on track and come get swept up in an air of excitement as the drama of racing & fashion unfold before your eyes.

Event schedule*

11.00am - Gates open

12.15pm - First race (approx)

5.30pm - Last race (approx). All bars close shortly after the last race, except Cuvée and the Winning Post**.

8.30pm - Event closes

* Please note timings are subject to change

** Entry into Cuvée after the last race is free to racegoers aged 18yr+; a dress code applies & intoxicated persons will not be permitted or tolerated.

Following the tradition of Derby Day events across the globe, black & white takes centre-stage and racegoers are encouraged to dress to the style theme (but it's not a requirement, including for the day's fashion competitions).

A dress code does apply in many areas including the Ascot Stand & hospitality precincts.

While we hate turning people away, this will be enforced as required.

If you're bringing the younger family members to Vodafone Derby Day, we've got some of the entertainment sorted with free children's entertainment available throughout the day.

We also offer free access into our stables (within the public viewing pathways) and children under the age of 15 years get free general admission into the racecourse - no ticket required.

More to come.

Gather the squad & pop the bubbles!

If you’re looking for people-watching prospects & an excuse to let your hair down on Vodafone Derby Day, the Garden Party is the precinct for you.

Tickets $70 per person but hurry! This spot sells out fast.

Enter our “Pick the Winner” competition on the day and you could be winging your way there!

Simply pick which horse you think will win the Vodafone NZ Derby ®, pop your entry in the corresponding box before entries close AND, if your pick wins the race, you’ll go in the draw to win 100,000 Hawaiian Airlines air miles PLUS three nights’ accommodation at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort. **

The national fashions in the field final, The Ned Prix de Fashion, returns to Vodafone Derby Day

with a $20,000+ prize package and the title of being the country's best-dressed racegoer awarded to the winner.

Entry into the day's Hawaiian Airlines Qualifier Round is free & open to female racegoers* and men aren't forgotten either with the Hawaiian Airlines Menswear Award also taking place on the day.

* Entry terms & conditions apply
