Tickets & hospitality
Whether you want to party it up in the Garden Party, network up a storm in a corporate marquee or private space, live it up in a shared dining precinct such as Cuvée or Silks, park up in general admission areas & soak up the racing or dress up & strut the fashion runway, there's something available for you.
Following the tradition of Derby Day events across the globe, black & white takes centre-stage and racegoers are encouraged to dress to this style theme (but it's not a requirement, including for the day's fashion competitions).
A dress code does apply in many areas including the Ascot Stand & hospitality precincts.
If you're bringing the younger family members to Vodafone Derby Day, we've got their day sorted with free pony rides, swingball, bouncy castle, a mobile barnyard with cute & friendly animals to pay & cuddle, plus organised games.
Plus! Children under 15 years get free general admission.
We also offer free access into our stabling area so you can go visit every horse that's racing & wish them good luck.
You can bring a picnic lunch with unopened, non-alcoholic beverages (plus blankets and chairs!) to enjoy in outdoor GA areas.
Think you could have what it takes to be among the best dressed on course? Or just want to get up on the fashion runway and have some fun?
If so, you should enter the day's fashion competitions!
There's the Working Style Menswear Award plus, for the ladies, there's the 'last chance' Fashion Qualifier in association with Milford Centre which will see four women make the regional final of The Ned Prix de Fashion (the national racewear final), which takes place later in the afternoon.
Entry into the competitions is free for all racegoers aged 18yr+.
Fancy being in to win a $1,750 trip to Queenstown?
Thanks to Roaring Meg, one lucky racegoer is going to win just that.
Simply select which horse you think will win the $1m Vodafone New Zealand Derby, put your entry in the corresponding entry box by the information kiosk and cross your fingers that your pick wins the race. If it does, you're in the draw to WIN!
The competition winner's name will be drawn from the dais following the race presentation.
Entry Ts & Cs apply.
You're able to bring your own picnic food & unopened, non-alcoholic beverages into outdoor general admission (public) areas on course & can purchase alcoholic beverages from bars on site. There are a number of food outlets on site too
Children under 15 years get free general admission
Senior citizen general admission rates apply at the gate on the day
Tickets are non-refundable
A dress code is in place in all hospitality areas and certain other areas including the Ascot Stand. While we hate turning people away, the dress code will be enforced as required and entry will be refused if it is not adhered to. Please ensure anyone you are purchasing tickets for is aware of this.
**All bars close shortly after the last race, except Cuvée & the Winning Post Bar. All guests on course are welcome to join the official on-site after party in Cuvée (R18, dress code applies, intoxicated persons will not be permitted)
We are a fully-licensed venue and BYO alcohol is not permitted
We encourage responsible drinking
Intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into Ellerslie Racecourse
We strongly encourage you to taxi to the track and leave your car at home. Don’t drink and drive, use our preferred taxi supplier Auckland Co-op Taxi who will drop off / pick up at the main entrance. Ring 09 300 3000 to book
