It’s the night that’s on everyone’s lips and this sell-out location is the place to be.

If you’re looking for people-watching prospects & an excuse to let your hair down on Auckland’s million dollar night, the Garden Party is the precinct for you. 

Located within the modern surrounds of our Cuvée Bar which boasts an expansive indoor / outdoor flow, you won’t get much closer to the horses with the Birdcage right beside you and the winning post directly opposite (read: “amazing profile shot opportunities”).

We'll start the party off with a drink on arrival, will throw in a racebook so you can ‘track talk' like the pros and have delicious food available for purchase.

All that’s left for you to do is gather the troops & get set for a night like no other!


Home to the evening’s official on-site after party, this area sells out quickly and so tickets will be allocated strictly in order of payment.

Tickets include:
  • Drink on arrival

  • Racecourse & Garden Party admission, racebooks available

  • Cash bar featuring Champagne, selected standard & premium New Zealand still & sparkling wines, light & standard local & imported beers, cider, spirits & non-alcoholic beverages

  • Access to covered shade & shelter; unreserved, limited tables & chairs

  • Instant entry into the official after-party (held in this precinct after the last race)

Other information 

  • On-site, overnight parking is free

  • Racecourse gates open at 3pm. Garden Party opens at 3.00pm

  • dress code is in place in all hospitality areas including Garden Party, plus certain other areas including the Ascot Stand. While we hate turning people away, the dress code will be enforced as required and entry will be refused if it is not adhered to. Please ensure anyone you are purchasing tickets for is aware of this

  • Tickets are non-refundable and include a 2.5% transaction fee.  A separate booking fee of $1.50 per ticket also applies upon purchase

  • All bar close shortly after the last race, except Cuvée & the Winning Post Bar. All guests on course are welcome to join the official on-site after party in Cuvée (R18, dress code applies, intoxicated persons will not be permitted or tolerated) 

  • We encourage responsible drinking

  • We are a fully-licensed venue and BYO alcohol is not permitted

  • Intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into Ellerslie Racecourse and will be removed from the grounds

  • We strongly encourage guests leave cars at home

  • Ellerslie Racecourse is located close to public transport networks including the Greenlane Train Station which is a 600m walk away

  • Promotional photographs, social media content & film footage will be taken at this event. By entering the racecourse, event-goers consent to use of their image by the Club & New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for promotional purposes

  • Ellerslie Racecourse will be operating as a “vaccination required venue” while Auckland operates under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ("traffic light" system), or similar. As a result, racegoers will be required to present a valid COVID-19 Vaccine Pass along with a suitable form of photographic identification in order to be able to enter the racecourse. * Children under the age of 12 years and three months, as well as those who present a valid "medical exemption from [the approved COVID-19] vaccine(s)" as issued by New Zealand's Ministry of Health in conjunction with a matching and legal and valid form of photographic identification, are not required to show a valid My Vaccine Pass in order to obtain entry into our site(s).
