Irish Raceday - Saturday 29 May
Do it your way
Our general admission areas get you access into the official - and free - Irish Party precinct (Newmarket Bar & Lawn, ground floor, Ellerslie Stand) and provide an easygoing way for eventgoers to enjoy their day.
From going to see the horses in the stables through to cheering them on as they race down the track, you’ll have endless opportunities to get up close to these amazing animals in our general admission areas.
When it comes time to race, you have the option of either enjoying exceptional views from the covered, outdoor seating upstairs in the Ellerslie Stand or get as close as possible to the thunder of the track from the open space of public lawns which neighbour the home straight.
The Newmarket Room, located on the ground floor of the Ellerslie Stand, is open to the public and offers a range of tasty food & beverages to purchase including, on this day, some of Chef's popular Irish fare.
You’re welcome to bring along your own picnic food, unopened non-alcoholic beverages, as well as chairs & picnic rugs for use in outdoor general admission areas.
On-site, overnight parking is free
All bars close shortly after the last race except the Newmarket Room, home of the Irish Party (note that at that time, this area becomes R18, intoxicated people will not be permitted or tolerated)
There is no set dress code in this area however a minimum of a smart casual standard is encouraged with most people in raceday attire (chinos, shirts, dresses etc)
We encourage responsible drinking
Intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into Ellerslie Racecourse and will be removed from the grounds
We strongly encourage guests leave cars at home
