Turn up the raceday volume at Auckland's original infield festival.
After three consecutive sell-out years since inception, The Paddock, located within the infield (centre of the track) is the place to be at the Boxing Day Races.
If you're wanting to spend your time trackside with mates, great tunes, pop-up food & chilled drinks to keep you cool under the summer sun (oh, check out some horse racing in the background), this is the precinct for you.

Is there an age restriction?
Yes. The Paddock is strictly R18 (and we'd also suggest it's not the place for you if you don't like loud music & partying); no children allowed; photographic ID will be required for entry. This precinct is better-suited to the younger (but 18yr+) eventgoer for whom the actual horse racing takes a backseat
Is there a dress code?
Nope, but we'd still encourage you to dress to impress in your favourite summer attire. Think wedges or cute summer sandals, a crown or a sunhat, dress shorts & loafers and guys, don't forget the boaters! Just note that if you plan on going elsewhere on course on the day, check to make sure a dress code doesn't apply
Can I bring in my own food?
We've got some pretty darn delicious food vendors coming in to sort the food and your ticket includes a voucher to redeem with one of them, so leave yours at home (food cannot be brought into The Paddock), and let them do the cooking for you
What about a gazebo?
No need to worry there either, we're bringing in shade & cover for you (so please leave your gazebos, picnic rugs and sun umbrellas at home as they won't be allowed in...)
Will there be good facilities for the fillies?
There sure will! And gents, there'll be something there for you too
So, is this the same as an infield ticket?
No, this is an entirely different hospitality & entertainment precinct at the SkyCity Boxing Day Races. While it's located within the centre of the racecourse (infield) where the infield family zone is also located - you need a ticket for The Paddock in order to get access into this area. No other event ticket (including a standard infield family zone ticket or general admission ticket) will get you in here
I have a ticket for somewhere else on course, will it get me into The Paddock?
No, it won't. You need to have a ticket for The Paddock in order to gain access into this precinct to be able to come enjoy the DJs and other entertainment on offer
Can I get into other areas on course if I have a ticket for The Paddock?
Yes, you can also use your Paddock ticket to get into the Infield Family Zone and the general admission areas on the grandstand side of the course
I want to compete in the day's fashion competition, can I?
Yes, but you'll need to leave The Paddock and go through the pedestrian underpass which is located near the entrance to The Paddock, then head over to the general admission area on the grandstand side of the course to the fashion zone
Can I listen to the music acts if I'm not in The Paddock?
No, you'll need a ticket into The Paddock in order to enjoy the beats from the precinct's acts
I want somewhere to sit down & watch the racing...
We'd suggest The Paddock may not be the one for you. You can still see the races, but this is a PARTY precinct which is where the focus is and while there's seating, it's limited and on an unreserved basis. If you don't like loud music & partying; you may be better off somewhere else.
Where is the family area?
The family area is in the same location as previous years & is, like The Paddock, in the infield. You'll need either a standard infield ticket (provides access to the family zone only & nowhere else on course); otherwise, any other ticket (including a ticket for The Paddock) will also get you access into the family zone area in the infield.
On-site, overnight parking is free however we strongly encourage guests leave cars at home. Ellerslie Racecourse is located close to public transport networks including the Greenlane Train Station which is a 600m walk away
While there is no set dress code in this precinct, a smart casual standard of attire is expected in accordance with our dress code. A dress code does apply in all hospitality areas plus certain other areas on course so if you have tickets to other areas on course, we suggest you check to ensure a code does not apply.
Tickets are non-refundable and include a 2.5% transaction fee. A separate booking fee of $1.50 per ticket also applies upon purchase
We encourage responsible drinking. Intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into Ellerslie Racecourse and will be removed from the grounds
We are a fully-licensed venue and BYO alcohol is not permitted
Promotional photographs, social media content & film footage will be taken at this event. By entering the racecourse, eventgoers consent to use of their image by the Club & New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for promotional purposes
