COVID-19 Update

With the COVID-19 Protection Framework ‘Red’ setting restricting gatherings to no more than 100 people, we regret to inform you that the 'Infield Mini Marquee Enclosure' hospitality precinct is no longer going ahead.  

Existing primary ticket purchasers have been refunded in full, less the booking fee.  If you purchased your ticket(s) via a card, your refund was issued to that card. If you paid via other means, you should have received contact from us.

Infield Mini Marquee Enclosure

Make your SkyCity Boxing Day preparations a breeze by booking your very own mini marquee in the infield (centre of the race track).

Your group will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this shared precinct where they can choose to base themselves from your reserved site, or mix with other likeminded parties within the private enclosure.

Your site includes 10 guest passes, your own mini shade marquee complete with table & ten chairs, plus access to a cash bar & betting facilities reserved for the exclusive use of Infield Mini Marquee Enclosure guests.


You’ll be left with nothing to do but relax & take comfort in the fact you’ve got everything covered for the SkyCity Boxing Day races.


Please note that limited marquee sites are available and they sell out in advance of the event.

Remember, there is no BYO beverage allowed, but you can bring your own food or purchase in the Infield or other areas of the course. 

Package includes:
  • Your own reserved 3 x 3m mini shade marquee set up for you in the infield, complete with table & 10 chairs

  • General admission plus entry into the Infield Mini Marquee Enclosure, racebook for each of you and nine guests

  • Easy access to, and exclusive use of a cash bar located within the Infield Mini Marquee enclosure

Please note: 

  • The Infield Mini Marquee Enclosure can only be accessed via the infield gates

  • The Infield Mini Marquee Enclosure opens at the same time as main gates open – 11.00am*

  • While there is no dress code in this area, if you plan on going to other areas on course you might need to check if one applies there as entry can be refused if it is not adhered to. You can view our dress code here

  • Marquee packages are designed to host 10 guests. If you wish to bring less than 10 guests, the full price still applies. Additional marquees can be purchased to accommodate larger groups however we are unable to guarantee that all tables within the group will have clear sight lines of the track

  • Access to the Mini Marquee Enclosure will be restricted to Mini Marquee guests only, who will be given a wristband on arrival. A maximum of 10 wristbands will be allocated per mini marquee. Additional wristbands will be provided for children under 5 years who are free. Please reference in the booking note the number of children under 5 years who are attending.

  • Your Infield Mini Marquee ticket also allows you access into the Infield Family Zone and the general admission areas on the grandstand side of the course (which includes the Fashions in the Field precinct)

Other information ​​

  • On-site, overnight parking is free however we strongly encourage guests leave cars at home. Ellerslie Racecourse is located close to public transport networks including the Greenlane Train Station which is a 600m walk away

  • dress code is in place in all hospitality areas plus certain other areas including the Ascot Stand. While we hate turning people away, the dress code will be enforced as required and entry will be refused if it is not adhered to. Please ensure anyone you are purchasing tickets for is aware of this

  • Tickets are non-refundable and include a 2.5% transaction fee.  A separate booking fee of $1.50 per ticket also applies upon purchase

  • We encourage responsible drinking. Intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into Ellerslie Racecourse and will be removed from the grounds

  • We are a fully-licensed venue and BYO alcohol is not permitted

  • Promotional photographs, social media content & film footage will be taken at this event. By entering the racecourse, event-goers consent to use of their image by the Club & New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for promotional purposes

  • Event terms & conditions apply

  • Ellerslie Racecourse will be operating as a “vaccination required venue” while Auckland operates under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ("traffic light" system), or similar. As a result, racegoers will be required to present a valid COVID-19 Vaccine Pass along with a suitable form of photographic identification in order to be able to enter the racecourse. * Children under the age of 12 years and three months, as well as those who present a valid "medical exemption from [the approved COVID-19] vaccine(s)" as issued by New Zealand's Ministry of Health in conjunction with a matching and legal and valid form of photographic identification, are not required to show a valid My Vaccine Pass in order to obtain entry into our site(s).
