COVID-19 Update

Under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ‘Red’ setting, Ascot Stand tickets to the SkyCity Boxing Day Races are unavailable for the general public and the stand is reserved for Club members only.

Existing primary ticket purchasers have been refunded in full, less the booking fee.  If you purchased your ticket(s) via a card, your refund was issued to that card. If you paid via other means, you should have received contact from us.

Reserved for the exclusive use by Auckland Thoroughbred Racing Ltd members, you’re invited to come & enjoy the SkyCity Boxing Day Races.

Rub shoulders with other racing fans & enjoy sweeping views of the course from the Ascot Stand.  

The Ascot Stand will have food & beverage available for purchase & tickets provide the bearer with access to indoor & outdoor unreserved seating.

Television screens broadcasting the day's racing, along with views of the outdoor super screen, complement the day's sporting competition.

Due to COVID-19 regulations the following conditions apply:

  • No food or beverage to be taken outside

  • Access to the Ascot Stand  only

  • There are no pass outs and ticket holders are unable to leave the hospitality area to visit other areas oncourse including, but not limited to, the stables, parade ring or birdcage areas

  • Raceday attendees are required to wear face masks at all times except when seated and eating or drinking. This requirement is in addition to the COVID Protection Framework and designed to keep our staff safe. Please do not be offended if you are asked to wear one. Attendees who do not comply may be asked to leave

** Children under the age of 12 years and three months, as well as those who present a valid "medical exemption from [the approved COVID-19] vaccine(s)" as issued by New Zealand's Ministry of Health in conjunction with a matching and legal and valid form of photographic identification, are not required to show a valid My Vaccine Pass in order to obtain entry into our site(s).

Other information ​​

  • On-site, overnight parking is free however we strongly encourage guests leave cars at home. Ellerslie Racecourse is located close to public transport networks including the Greenlane Train Station which is a 600m walk away

  • dress code is in place in all hospitality areas including the Ascot Stand. While we hate turning people away, the dress code will be enforced as required and entry will be refused if it is not adhered to. Please ensure anyone you are purchasing tickets for is aware of this

  • Tickets are non-refundable and include a 2.5% transaction fee.  A separate booking fee of $1.50 per ticket also applies upon purchase

  • We encourage responsible drinking. Intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into Ellerslie Racecourse and will be removed from the grounds

  • We are a fully-licensed venue and BYO alcohol is not permitted

  • Promotional photographs, social media content & film footage will be taken at this event. By entering the racecourse, event-goers consent to use of their image by the Club & New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for promotional purposes

  • Event terms & conditions apply

  • Ellerslie Racecourse will be operating as a “vaccination required venue” while Auckland operates under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ("traffic light" system), or similar.
