COVID-19 Update

The Auckland region is currently sitting under the “Red” setting within the Government’s COVID-19 Protection Framework. With no date set for when the region may move to ‘Orange’, we have made the decision to restrict entry to Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup Day.

As a result, changes or cancellations have been applied to hospitality precincts and / or ticketing options in order to ensure the event can be safely conducted under the requirements of events at “Red”. If you have already purchased tickets, you will have been contacted by our hospitality team in regards to your options.

With our Premium GA option, you can enjoy the races from your own reserved, indoor table whilst enjoying uninterrupted views of the racecourse, air conditioning (!) and access to the covered grandstand from which to hear the elite thoroughbred athletes thunder past. 

Package includes:

  • Reserved table for up to 10 guests on Level 3 of the Ellerslie Stand

  • Comfort of an air conditioned room with uninterrupted views of the racecourse and access to the covered grandstand

  • Table service for food & beverage purchase plus access to bathroom facilities

  • Racebooks

  • Antipasto, $155 

Prosciutto, assorted salami, artichoke hearts, feta, balsamic onions, roasted bell peppers, dips and a selection of fresh bread

  • Asian, $230

Grilled chicken satay, bang bang prawns with chilli dip, vegetable spring rolls, pork dumplings, tofu bao and black bean South Island salmon

  • New Zealand Cheese, $290

Kikorangi blue, aged cheddar, Puhoi brie, creamy havarti, cranberry and hazelnut crisps, water crackers and dried fruit

Note: Must be pre-purchased - platters won’t be available to purchase on the day

Due to COVID-19 regulations the following conditions apply:

  • No food or beverage to be taken outside and all food and beverage must be consumed while seated

  • Ticket holders have access to the Premium General Admission Room only

  • There are no pass outs and ticket holders are unable to leave the hospitality area to visit other areas oncourse including, but not limited to, the stables, parade ring or birdcage areas. 

  • The space is limited to 100 guests

  • Raceday attendees are required to wear face masks at all times except when seated and eating or drinking. This requirement is part of the COVID Protection Framework and designed to keep our attendees and staff safe. Please do not be offended if you are asked to wear one.**

  • Seating is in tables of 10. If less than 10 tickets are purchased, you may be required to share your table with others

  • Racecourse gates open at 11.30am* – this hospitality option also opens at 11.30am

  • Prices include GST

** Children under the age of 12 years and three months, as well as those who present a valid "medical exemption from [the approved COVID-19] vaccine(s)" as issued by New Zealand's Ministry of Health in conjunction with a matching and legal and valid form of photographic identification, are not required to show a valid My Vaccine Pass in order to obtain entry into our site(s).

Other information ​

  • Gates and general admission areas open at 11.00am, access into Level 3 of the Ellerslie Stand opens at 11.30am*

  • While there is no dress code in this area, if you plan on going to other areas on course you might need to check if one applies there.  While we hate turning people away, entry may be refused if the dress code is not adhered to

  • On-site, overnight parking is free, however we encourage guests leave their cars at home. Ellerslie Racecourse is located close to public transport networks including the Greenlane Train Station which is a 600m walk away.

  • Tickets are non-refundable and include a 2.5% transaction fee.  A separate booking fee of $1.50 per ticket also applies upon purchase

  • We are a fully-licensed venue and BYO alcohol is not permitted. We encourage responsible drinking with intoxicated persons not being granted entry into, or tolerated within, our grounds 

  • Promotional photographs, social media content & film footage will be taken at this event. By entering the racecourse, event-goers consent to use of their image by the Club & New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for promotional purposes

  • Event terms & conditions apply

  • Ellerslie Racecourse will be operating as a “vaccination required venue” while Auckland operates under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ("traffic light" system), or similar.
