Here's your preview to our upcoming raceday, complete with Craig Baker's thoughts on the day's feature race and some tips from the office lads.
Given we race on Sunday, a penetrometer is not due to be taken until this afternoon (Friday).
At the time of writing, we have applied 20mms of irrigation which will take the track into the Dead 4/5 range. We will continue to irrigate to ensure the track is Dead 4 on race morning.
Here's what our track manager Jason Fulford had to say about the track earlier today:
Feature race preview
Race 6 | Te Akau Gingernuts Salver | Listed | $70,000 | 2100m | 3YO SW| 3.14pm
Most of the three years old engaged are having their first run over ground as they head towards the Vodafone New Zealand Derby in March.
One horse that is crying out for a trip is the Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott trained, Ozark. The son of Tarzino made up good ground from last at his last start in a maiden 1600 at Matamata. While he is still a maiden, there is not a great deal of exposed form in this year’s race so, from barrier one, I expect him to be midfield in the run and be steaming home. The current price of $7 is a touch of overs in my opinion.
