Here's your preview to our upcoming raceday, complete with Craig Baker's thoughts on the day's feature race.

Track update
The track is rated a Dead 5 this afternoon after 17mms of rain since midnight.
Whether we need to irrigate tomorrow evening to ensure we have a Dead 4 on race morning will depend on how much the track dries this evening and tomorrow.
Here's what our track manager Jason Fulford had to say about the track earlier today:

Feature race preview
Race 7 | Te Akau Gingernuts Salver | Listed | $50,000 | 2100m | 3YO SW | 3.48pm
The first time this race has been run on this date as previously it has been run in mid-December. On paper, the race looks to have two chances, with Mongolian Wings current favourite in front of Cheaperthandivorce. Looking at the speed map, Mongolian Wings looks to get a soft lead, and, for that reason, he goes on top for me from Cheaperthandivorce that is likely to get back and be steaming home.
Mongolian Wings, a son of Mongolian Khan, a former winner of this race as well as the NZ Derby, ATC Derby and Caulfield Cup, was a last start winner at Rotorua in a Rating 65 1560 and looks to the eye that Sunday’s extra distance is only going to be an advantage.
