Need an insider tip? Keen to know how the track is shaping up?

Here's your preview to our upcoming raceday complete with Craig Baker's thoughts on the day's feature race, speed maps, a track update and some tips from the office lads.

Track update

At the time of writing on Friday, 24 December, the track is rated a Dead 5. Our aim is to provide a Dead 4 track on race morning so a decision to irrigate further will be made after the penetrometer is completed tomorrow afternoon.

As at 12pm Friday the track was a Dead 5.

Feature race preview

Race 9, 5.04pm | Cambridge Stud Zabeel Classic | WFA | 2000m | $240,000

A really high class edition of the Cambridge Stud Zabeel Classic with many chances. Looking at the speed map, there looks to be little speed which is the norm for WFA 2000 races at Ellerslie.

On top for me is last year’s winner, Concert Hall. She is thriving this campaign highlighted by her latest victory in the Cal Isuzu Stakes at Te Rapa. Like last year, she will get back in the run and will be powering home.

The dangers include Aegon and Two Illicit.
