Auckland Racing Club (ARC) today announced the revival of a relationship with Haunui Farm, with the major New Zealand stud signing on to sponsor a Group race during Auckland Cup Week 2020.

To be known as the Group 3 Haunui Farm King’s Plate, the race will be run over 1200m for $100,000 under set-weights-and-penalties conditions on Vodafone Derby Day (29th February 2020) at Ellerslie.

Haunui Farm returns to ARC as a sponsor after a short absence, having last sponsored a major race at Ellerslie in 2015 – the Group 1 Diamond Stakes.

ARC chief executive Paul Wilcox is delighted to welcome back Haunui Farm.

“We are thrilled to have Haunui Farm’s support of the Group 3 King’s Plate during Auckland Cup Week.

“Haunui Farm has always been a wonderful supporter of the Club and it is a privilege to have them renew their association with us.

“They are a significant player in the thoroughbred breeding industry and, like us, are working hard to progress our industry for the better.”

Haunui Farm principal, Mark Chitty, is equally as excited to be joining forces with ARC.

“We are delighted to be returning to Ellerslie as the sponsor of the Haunui Farm King’s Plate on Vodafone Derby Day.

“The Haunui Farm King’s Plate is one of the feature sprints of the Carnival and has a long history.

“Ellerslie is an iconic industry venue, is located in our largest city and the Auckland Racing Club is renowned for its innovation.

“Importantly for us, they are prepared to work together for the betterment of the New Zealand industry which we believe is critical going forward.”

The Group 3 $100,000 Haunui Farm King’s Plate will be run on Vodafone Derby Day (Saturday 29th February 2020) – the first day of Auckland Cup Week – an event for people of all interests, featuring the very best in racing, fashion, hospitality & entertainment.
