A new sponsor will take over a famed three-year-old fillies race this year with Auckland Racing Club (ARC) today announcing that Barneswood Farm will sponsor the Group 3 Soliloquy Stakes as part of the Club's Cox Plate Raceday on 26 October 2019.
ARC chief executive Paul Wilcox is delighted to have the team at Barneswood Farm expand their involvement at Ellerslie.
“Barneswood Farm is a great supporter of the Club and has been for a number of years,” Wilcox commented.
“Not only are they sponsors here, but they have achieved tremendous success on the course including Media Sensation's Soliloquy Stakes win last year.
“They are known for their highly quality fillies - going back to Planet Rock - and we are thrilled that they are supporting one of our most important three-year-old filly races here on home turf this year.”
Already a key sponsor for ARC, Barneswood Farm’s Sarah Green is excited to grow their support through taking on the Barneswood Farm Soliloquy Stakes.
“We have had a great relationship with Ellerslie over the years and have enjoyed being involved with sponsorship of races including the Barneswood Farm Eclipse Stakes on SkyCity New Year’s Day.
"When the chance arose to sponsor the Soliloquy Stakes, we were very happy to be involved," said Green.
“It’s always great to be able to put something back into the sport we love.
“Winning this race with Media Sensation last year was a huge thrill and one reason why we are excited to be the race's sponsor this year.”
To be run on 26 October, the Barneswood Farm Soliloquy Stakes is a Group 3 contest over 1400m and is a key race for three-year-old fillies early in the racing season.
Media Sensation went on to win a Group 1 at her next start for Barneswood Farm and trainers Peter & Dawn Williams, highlighting the quality of the race.
With fields due to be drawn next Wednesday (23 October), a number of exciting fillies are expected to be entered this year as well.
Barneswood Farm will continue their sponsorship of the Eclipse Stakes again as part of the SkyCity New Year's Day Races on January 1, 2020.
