We spoke to jockeys competing in the Joe McDonald Avondale Cup to get their comments on how the race went.
1st: Polzeath Jasmine Fawcett
Most genuine horse I've ridden. We were just n the right place at the right time.
2nd: Platinum Invader Leith Innes
Good run. They went pretty hard, got the right breaks. Good effort.
3rd: Etah James Shaun McKay
She's gone huge. Strong pace and off the bridle but she showed a turn of foot and the two miles for the Auckland Cup will be her go.
4th: Masetto Cameron Lammas
Got a good position, hit the front at the top of the straight and battled on well.
5th: Paisley Park Michael McNab
Got too far back and pulled too hard.
6th: Felaar Matthew Cameron
Top run. Got back a bit off the bit and stormed home well. Auckland Cup will be right up his alley.
7th: Soleseifei Trudy Thornton
Good run for the Auckland Cup.
8th: Intrigue Michael Coleman
Found the distance too far. An okay run.
9th: Jessiegee Opie Bosson
Probably didn't run out the 2400m with the 59kgs.
10th: Dragon Storm Lynsey Satherley
He's a out and out stayer that needs some cut in the ground and he's still learning the game. He'll improve.
11th: Concert Hall Ryan Elliot
Made to do too much early. She didn't stop quickly but got a hit across her nose.
12th: Final Suggestion Ashvin Goindasamy
Slow from the gates. Had to ride from the back but ran on well.
13th: Starrybeel Danielle Johnson
He was flat from the start. Not sure what to make of his run.
14th: Excalibur Richard Oliver
Needs a genuine gallop.
15th: Babiche Ryoya Kozaki
Wasn't in the race at any stage.
16th: Toms Lisa Allpress
She went a little hard near the lead, I should have been a little back further.
17th: Gabriel Masa Hashizume
Got back and was never in the race.
Last: Daytona Red Sam Spratt
Never was in the race.
