Jockey comments from beaten favourites: Vodafone Derby Day

After each race at the Vodafone Derby Day Races, we spoke to jockeys of beaten favourites to hear their thoughts.

Race One: CURRAGHMORE 1600

Star Tsar Matt Cameron

Won

Race Two: HEADQUARTERS VIADUCT & THE LONELY HEARTS CLUB NATHANS MEMORIAL

Dance Card Leith Innes

Got knocked over.

Race Three: VERTICAL LOGISTICS 1400

Packing Rockstar Jason Waddell

Won

Race Four: GO RACING SYNDICATIONS 1200

Riding The Wave Jason Waddell

Awkwardly run race, very good horse with heaps of ability still learning.

Race Five: GRAEME THOMSON ANTIQUE & ESTATE JEWELLERY 1500

Swords Drawn Sam Weatherley

Massive run. He's travelled well, when they quickened he was left flat footed. When he gets over a trip he'll be hard to beat.

Race Six: MCKEE FAMILY SUNLINE VASE

Bergamot Matt Cameron Good run. They went slow and had to make a move but found wanting the last bit.

Race Seven: MUFHASA FASTTRACK STAKES

Run To Perfection Jason Waddell

Very good effort. Has a few breathing issues. Very proud of him.

Race Eight: HAUNUI FARM KING'S PLATE

Spring Heat

Won

Race Nine: VODAFONE NZ DERBY

Two Illicit Vinnie Colgan

Super effort. The winner just out-stayed us.

Race Ten: BARFOOT & THOMPSON 2100

Gravitelle Leith Innes

Just battled away.
