ARC ambassador and one of the judges of tomorrow's NEWMARKET. Style Spotter competition, Hannah Marinkovich shares her thoughts on what catches a judge’s eye and what trends she's loving for racedays.
What are you looking to see when you judge tomorrow's NEWMARKET. Style Spotter competition?
I will be looking for someone that has looked to racewear tradition in a nod to the Melbourne Cup and the history of the day, but that has put their own spin on it.
I’ll also be looking for racewear that pushes the boundaries a little and is fun – something that you wouldn’t necessarily expect.
What key trends are you loving for spring and summer racedays? This year will be another celebration of colour.
Pink is still a favourite, as well as pastel colours like baby blues, purples, and yellows.
Head-to-toe neutral looks with different fabrics and textures would also be cool.
I think after 2020, people will by dying to get dressed up again and I’m so looking forward to seeing people really go for it!
I am also loving smaller choices for headwear, but this often depends on what mood I am in so we will see!
What sets someone apart from the crowd when everyone in the fashions in the field competition is immaculately dressed?
It is always an incredibly tough job!
Something that stands out for me is when the wearer has thought of absolutely everything in their outfit, right down to their nail colour and jewellery choices; that can really add polish to an outfit.
I also love someone who carries their outfit confidently, as this is also a part of it.
What inspired your own outfit for tomorrow's judging?
This year I have started with a beautiful hat and gone from there.
My outfit has plenty of colour and is feminine and pretty.
After all the loungewear I’ve been wearing this year I’ve been waiting to dress up like this!
