We spoke to jockeys competing in the Valachi Downs Championship Stakes to get their comments on how the race went.

1st: Lord Arthur Jake Bayliss
Found ourselves at the tail of the field, traveled up and let down as the winner. Nice horse in 12 months time.
2nd: Intrigue Leith Innes
Thought the race was all over at the 200m mark but got one better on the day. On-wards and upwards with her, she's gong to Brisbane.
3rd: Bobby Dee Jonathan Riddell
Good run considering he hasn't run since the NZ Derby but he's an honest horse.
4th: Hasabro Cameron Lammas
We got a good run on the fence and ran on nicely.
5th: Ignored Matt Cameron
A good run. The draw dictated we got back and she flew home.
6th: Blue On Black Trudy Thornton
Outstanding run from a wide draw. Didn't get any favors but it was a big effort. He's going to be a top line stayer.
7th: Jip Jip Rock Sam Collett
A little disappointing. She's ready for a break now.
8th: Decadance Sam Spratt
From the wide draw, we planned to go forward and get in but we unfortunately didn't get in and had a hard run the whole way.
9th: Spring Delight Craig Grylls
Had a good run throughout and tracked into it nice but didn't run on. Probably at the end of her prep.
10th: Star Karen Robert Hannam
Pace was early and got back, started to improve at the half mile and looked likely turning for home but battled after that.
11th: Mighty Connor Shaun McKay
On the quick back-up I don't think he copped it. They ran fast sections throughout and he was flat off the bridle . A freshen up will do him good.
12th: Gehrig Vinnie Colgan
Disappointing run from him.
13th: Vee Cece Rosie Myers
On the one rein and ran off the track
14th: Elate Ryan Elliot
Very disappointing run.
Last: Trumpet Chris Johnson
Got trapped three deep and probably found the class above him.
