We spoke to jockeys competing in the Waikato Stud Plate to get their comments on how the race went.
1st Princess Kereru Cameron Lammas
A good run. The race panned out exactly how she wants it and she sprinted hard
2nd: Ronchi Jake Bayliss
Huge turnaround of form. I think he's back to his best. Disappointed just getting beat.
3rd: Santa Monica Trudy Thornton
Huge effort. Tried very hard.
4th: Volks Lightening Ryan Elliot
Traveled up good but didn't get any clear air until the last 50m metres.
5th: Rikki Tikki Tavi Sam Collett
Super run. A better barrier draw would have helped.
6th: Livin' On A Prayer Chris Johnson
Outpaced early. Ran on nicely but they went just a bit quick.
7th: Spring Heat Glen Boss
Went a super race. From the outside draw dictated where I wanted to be in the race but she really sprinted home quickly.
8th: Ferrando Matt Cameron
Disappointing effort. He's a better left handed with not so much pressure. He stuck on ok.
9th: The Chosen One Rosie Myers
Super run. Very green but she has finished strongly.
10th: Hasahalo Sam Spratt
She hadn't raced for a year, so super run. She got back and flew home. I'm very happy for her future.
11th: Rocanto Craig Grylls
Wasn't a bad run. Sat outside the leader but hanging most of the way made it hard to change legs and get into the race. OK effort.
12th: Bisou Bisou Johnathan Parkes
Stuck on ok but she gives me the indication she wants some give in the track.
13th: William Wallace Andrew Calder
Happy enough with the run but looking for further than 1200 metres now.
Last: Ja Ja Binks Darren Danis
Wound up at the barriers before the start didn't help.
