New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Million: Preferment @ Brighthill Farm Concord Handicap Jockey Comments

We spoke to jockeys competing in the Preferment @ Brighthill Farm Concorde Handicap on New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Million Raceday to get their comments on how the race went.

1st Ardrossan Michael McNab

Too good. He only had a light weight but had to be classy from a wide draw he had to be superior and he was.

2nd Ever Loyal Jake Bayliss

Huge run first up in 12 months. Jumped a little slow and got a little further back than anticipated. He settled well and got a nice drag into the race and really attacked the line.

3rd Volks Lightning Matthew Cameron

A top run. Thought I was going to win half way down the straight but the winner kicked a bit better and she probably got the wobbles the last 20 metres.

4th Rikki Tikki Tavi Winona Costin

Super run. Could have run third.

5th Santa Monica Trudy Thornton

A brave run. The weight wasn't helpful.

6th Ja Ja Binks Samantha Collett

Huge run fresh up after a long time off. Got a little far off the speed but has really hit the line well.

7th Princess Kereru Cameron Lammas

She went very good. The draw cost us and we got too far back and she's run on well.

8th Pretty To Sea Shaun McKay

She's gone a good race just got held up at the 200m mark and had to go again. She'll be a very nice horse over 1400m next start.

9th Amastar Michael Coleman

He didn't run bad but wide the whole way.

10th Joy Anna Donavan Mansour

Needed the run.

11th Stratocaster Opie Bosson

Very disappointing.

12th Bella Gioia Sam Spratt

Got there nicely but was probably feeling the track a little. Coming round the bend was tending to lug out a bit.

13th Mahalo Kate Cowan

We missed the kick due to leaning on the gates. She ran on good, just needs more ground.

Last Spring Heat Tommy Berry

Bucked for a furlong and that was it.
