Christmas Carnival New Year’s Day Races: Jockey comments from beaten favourites

Race 1: Stella Artois 2100

Chief Sequoyah Jason Waddell

It was another brave effort from the horse, I'm very proud of him.

Race 2: Mainstream Plumbing & Gasfitting 1400

She's A Goddess Jake Bayliss

She jumped well and travelled beautifully. We were in a nice spot but we got a bump at around the 600m and it put her off balance, that was just a bit much for her to come back from.

Race 3: Barneswood Farm Eclipse Stakes

Whiskey Neat Leith Innes

Race 4: Jamieson Park Auckland Guineas

More Wonder Jonathan Parkes

It was a good run for a horse that is still a bit green, especially going right handed for the first time.

Race 5: Valachi Downs Royal Stakes

Pinmedown Jake Bayliss

It was an average tempo with the leaders stopping and starting which made it hard for the back markers. Nonetheless it was a gallant effort to get home as well as she did.

Race 6: Dunstan Feeds Stayers Championship Final

The Good Fight Jason Waddell

He is a very impressive horse in the making, I am really proud of him. He is still a work in progress.

Race 7: Rich Hill Mile

On The Rocks Jake Bayliss

Race 8: Pencarrow Stud City of Auckland Cup

Mongolian Marshall Matthew Cameron

He had his chance, I think he might just be at the end of his prep. He still hit the line well.

Race 9: Sistema Railway

Melody Belle Shafiq Rusof

We just had no luck in the run. She has gone enormous.

Race 10: Barfoot & Thompson 1600

Sacred Day Leith Innes

To be fair it was an average ride. They just went so slow up front that it was too hard to make any ground.
