Christmas Carnival New Year’s Day Races: Jamieson Park Auckland Guineas Jockey comments

We spoke to jockeys competing in the Group 2 Jamieson Park Auckland Guineas on Christmas Carnival New Year’s Day Races to get their comments on how the race went.

1st Surely Sacred Leith Innes

It was a massive run. From where he was at the the 200m he wasn't entitled to win but he was absolutely flying the last bit.

2nd Cantstopthefeeling Andrew Calder

It was a really nice run. The step up to 1600m suited perfectly.

3rd Langkawi Shaun McKay

He went huge. I think with a better draw next start and if he does things right he will win a nice race.

4th More Wonder Jonathan Parkes

It was a good run for a horse that is still a bit green, especially going right handed for the first time.

5th Star Performance Vinnie Colgan

It was a nice run. I think he will be a good autumn three year old.

6th Penteverest Jason Waddell

It was a bad ride and a tough run.

7th Arrogant Cameron Lammas

He just battled away. I think he wants a little more easing in the track.

8th Tolemac Jake Bayliss

He hasn't raced since the Derby in Australia, so he was fresh today. He jumped and put himself into it and I think that told as he ran out of steam late.

9th Quick Preview Sam Spratt

We got a nice run in transit. I thought we were going to run into the placings but he only battled.

Last Lumberjack Samantha Collett

He was really disappointing today. We had a nice run but he just didn't find anything in the straight.
