Christmas Carnival New Year’s Day Races: Dunstan Feeds Stayers Championship Final Jockey comments

We spoke to jockeys competing in the Dunstan Feeds Stayers Championship Final on Christmas Carnival New Year’s Day Races to get their comments on how the race went.

1st Starrybeel Michael McNab

He is a super horse who I think has a group win in him.

2nd The Good Fight Jason Waddell

He is a very impressive horse in the making. I am really proud of him. He is still a work in progress.

3rd Fiscal Fantasy Opie Bosson

It was a top run. She probably just found the 2200m a bit far.

4th Katie Perrie Reese Jones

It was a super run. We were going to get caught wide so we eased back further than I wanted too. She made ground really well and I think we will see the best of her as a five or six year old.

5th Suspense Trudy Thornton

It was a good effort from a horse that is still a little bit weak.

6th August Edition Darren Danis (a)

She was really good, I think she wants even more ground.

7th Red Sky At Night Matthew Cameron

She was a little bit disappointing. She pulled too hard, if she settled better we would have finished a lot closer.

8th Sarabande Samantha Collett

It was another honest run. She got a long way out of her ground and finished off as well as she can.

9th Redcayenne Shafiq Rusof

He went okay off a slow early speed.

10th Sunburst Cameron Lammas

We had a good trip, maybe she didn't back up. The weight didn't help her either.

11th Miss Rippy Sam Spratt

We got back a little bit and just battled. I think she wants a little cut in the track.

12th Justamaiz Michael Coleman

We just got a bit far back. He found the line nicely though.

13th Aigne Tegan Newman (a)

He wasn't quite up to these today.

14th El Fernando Jonathan Riddell

It was a weak effort.

15th Treasure Leith Innes

I just don't think she backed up.

Last El Jodi Lisa Allpress

She struggled in this grade today.
