We spoke to jockeys competing in the Group 3 Barneswood Farm Eclipse Stakes on Christmas Carnival New Year's Day Races to get their comments on how the race went.
1st Whiskey Neat Leith Innes
It was a great run. He did all the work and was out on his feet late but he just kept fighting.
2nd Aotea Lad Opie Bosson
It was a really really good run. Swap the gates and I think he would've won.
3rd Exuberant Jason Waddell
It was a super run from a very brave horse. If you wanted to take a horse to war, he would be my pick.
4th Aalaalune Samantha Collett
It was a super run. She just jumped up when the gates opened and that cost us a length. She made up a stack of ground in the straight. It was a nice run from a filly going forward.
5th Last Sight Cameron Lammas
We had a nice spot in the run but she just battled in the straight. It was a little bit disappointing really.
6th Anna Cecelia Shaun McKay
She went good, I think she is just a little bit new to the game. She had a big look around and she will be better for the experience.
7th Power's That Be Jake Bayliss
I think she will be a better horse at 1400m or 1600m, she doesn't quicken she just keeps up a solid gallop.
Last Shampagne Dancer Darren Danis (a)
She is just not a natural 2YO.
