After each race, we spoke to jockeys of beaten favourites to hear their thoughts.

Race 1: White Cliffs Timber 1200

Breezon Opie Bosson

He had every chance but the track was just too firm.

Race 2: Piazza D'Oro 1200

Fullinbloom Michael McNab

We just had no luck in the run.

Race 3: CMC Markets 1400

King's Cross Danielle Johnson

He went a great race today, he was pretty luckless in the straight. They run along at good speed today but I think any easing in the ground will help him. Whether he goes for a spell and waits for some wetter tracks now I'm not sure.

Race 4: Crombie Lockwood 2100

Jake The Muss Damian Browne

It was a good run, they just didn't seem to make ground in that race.

Race 5: Winger Maserati 1200

Howbowdat Maija Vance

It was a really good run, he just found a couple better on the day.

Race 6: Sistema Stakes

Avantage Mathew Cameron

It was a top run, the draw meant we had to go back, the second horse gave the winner an easy time in the running and she's done well to finish where she did.

Race 7: Royal Descent Stakes

Livin' On A Prayer Mathew Cameron

We got a good run in behind them but I think she has come to the end of her prep.

Race 8: Bonecrusher New Zealand Stakes

Lizzie L'Amour Mathew Cameron

The good 3 was probably just too firm, she got out and found the line okay but she wants a bit of cut in the ground.

Race 9: Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup

Ladies First Jonathan Parkes

Race 10: PGG Wrightson 1600

Gundown Opie Bosson

He just got too far off them, it was too hard to make up the ground.
