After each race, we spoke to jockeys of beaten favourites to hear their thoughts.

Race 1: Barfoot & Thompson 1200
Princess Kereru Michael Coleman
It was a good run, we just needed to get out a couple of strides earlier.
Race 2: The New Zealand Herald 1400
Pierrocity Danielle Johnson
She came into this without a trial so she will naturally improve. We got back in a race that didn't really change complexion either.
Race 3: Auckland Co-Op Taxis 2200
Comin'through Alysha Collett
It was a really good run, they went along at such slow tempo and he is an out and out stayer and going forward to the Auckland Cup he is a really good chance.
Race 4: Go Racing Syndications 1400
Tiptronic Chris Johnson
It was a good honest run, he had his chance but he just took an age to get going.
Race 5: Buffalo & Co 1600
Sacred Day Leith Innes
It was a good run, he had to get back off the good speed. He is still very green but he hit the line well.
Race 6: Mufhasa Fasttrack Stakes
Astor Samantha Collett
Won
Race 7: McKee Family Sunline Vase
Contessa Vanessa Chris Johnson
Won
Race 8: Darley Stallions Plate
Julius Jason Waddell
Won
Race 9: Vodafone New Zealand Derby
Danzdanzdance Mathew Cameron
It was a top run, she is just a little inexperienced, when we tried to quicken across the top she just started climbing a bit. Once she got balanced yup the last 300m was strong, she will be a super horse next season.
Race 10: Headquarters Viaduct 2100
Velaar Danielle Johnson
Won
