We spoke to jockeys competing in the Windsor Park Stud City of Auckland Cup on New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Million Raceday to get their comments on how the race went.
1st Charles Road Jake Bayliss
He is a very nice stayer. He gave me a kick that wasn't as good as I know he can. He is a Group 1 horse through and through.
2nd Five To Midnight Hugh Bowman
It was a great Auckland Cup trial.
3rd Comin'Through Cameron Lammas
It was a good run. The barrier actually wasn't ideal for him. He travelled up and fought hard to the line.
4th Wildflower Chris Johnson
It was a good run. We got back and hit the line nicely.
5th Zacada Danielle Johnson
He went good. He probably just wants it a bit slower.
6th August Edition Samantha Collett
It was a nice gutsy run.
7th Von Tunzelman Leith Innes
He was just a little flat footed and one-paced.
8th Benzini Rosie Myers
We had a terrible trip. Its not ideal being caught wide with 60kg.
9th Symphonic Mark Du Plessis
She just doesn't stay.
10th Diesel Aisha Collett
The tempo wasn't run to suit. We would've been better to lead.
11th Gobstopper Sam Spratt
He probably wants some cut and a holiday. He wasn't there today.
Last Smedley Ryan Elliot (a)
It was a big ask for him out of his grade.
