Interislander Summer Festival Raceday: Jockey comments from beaten favourites

After each race, we spoke to jockeys of beaten favourites to hear their thoughts.

Race 1: Bestaff 1600

Treasure Michael McNab

She got to them so easily and just floated a little. I think blinkers will help.

Race 2: NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race

Avantage Opie Bosson

It was a really good win, she still has plenty of improvement in her too! (Won)

Race 3: Bidfood 1200

Florence Jean Rosie Myers

She was just a bit slow away and we were forced to ride her back which is against her usual pattern but she really found the line nicely.

Race 4: 0800 Horsevets 1500

Ever Loyal Jason Waddell

We tried a couple of gear changes, the side winkers have helped but the change of bit definitely made him too fierce.

Race 5: Swiss Deli 1400

Princess Kereru Michael Coleman

It was a good game run, she probably just found the track a touch firm.

Race 6: Monstavision - Fasttrack 5k

Joy Ana Mark Du Plessis

I think she is just feeling the effects of recent racing.

Race 7: Collinson Forex Karaka Cup

Charles Road Jake Bayliss

Jumping from 1600m to 2200m with an ordinary barrier we had to use a little bit of petrol early. I would've loved a bit of cover, the leader rolled off the fence in the straight and let the 1st and 2nd horses through, my horse boxed on gamely to run 3rd beaten a long neck, he was entitled to win and I think he will next start.

Race 8: Coca-Cola 2100

Comin'through Leith Innes

It was a huge run, horses just don't do what he did today, he was really game.
