We spoke to jockeys competing in the Stella Artois Royal Stakes at our Christmas Carnival New Year's Day Races to get their comments on how the race went.
1st Hello It's Me Cameron Lammas
She went huge for her first run over ground. The rain probably helped her a bit but she was strong to the line.
2nd Contessa Vanessa Chris Johnson
She got a nice run in the race. She looked the winner at the furlong but the winner was just better on the day.
3rd Marcellina Michael Coleman
It was a nice run. She hit the line strongly and she is an improving filly.
4th Mark Two Danielle Johnson
She went super considering its only her second start. We got a bump on the corner but she picked herself up nicely and the more ground she goes over the better she will be.
5th Gris Dame Opie Bosson
It was a good run. She fought on well.
6th Lily The Pink Mathew Cameron
It was an okay run. She travelled up nice. She is probably just a little weak especially that being only her 3rd start. She will keep for next time.
7th Pont Alma Jake Bayliss
She handled the track okay but you will see horses getting wider through the day.
8th Fiscal Fantasy Trudy Thornton
She tried hard but I think the ground has got testing quite quickly and I think that was a factor.
9th Alternative Fact Alysha Collett
We got a nice run but she didn't find the line like we thought she would.
10th Los Angeles Samantha Collett
Not a bad run from a maiden. She will appreciate going back in class to a maiden mile.
11th Luxe Jason Waddell
She was disappointing.
12th Anevay Michael McNab
We got a lovely trip and had some bumping on the corner but she wasn't comfortable on the track.
13th Verbal Command Regan Bayliss
She just whacked away. She was on the wrong leg and didn't really feel comfortable in that going.
Last Bet She Is Sam Spratt
She just struggled in the ground.
