After each race, we spoke to jockeys of beaten favourites to hear their thoughts.
Race 1: Otakiri Water 1400
Yearn Trudy Thronton
It was a great run I just think she is ready to step up to 1600m.
Race 2: Auckland Co-Op Taxis 1100
Nirvana in Fire Mick Dee
It was a very good run, he did it tough early. He just needs to relax better early on. He was very tough in the finish though.
Race 3: Dunstan Feeds Stayers Championship Qualifier 2100
Camino Rocoso Jason Waddell
He had a good run in transit and had every chance to win but just wasn't good enough today.
Race 4: Shaws Wires Ropes 1400
Embellish Opie Bosson
It was a good run, we got a long way back and he will improve with the run.
Race 5: Barfoot & Thompson 1600
Ripley Jason Waddell
It was just the wrong way to ride this horse, he needs to be ridden cold.
Race 6: Hallmark Stud Handicap
Chambord Opie Bosson
We just got held up and should have won.
Race 7: Dunstan Feeds 1500 Championship Final
Top Prospect Andrew Calder
He ended up a little closer than I would've liked but he just didn't sprint like I thought he would.
Race 8: Cambridge Stud Eight Carat Classic
Spring Heat Jake Bayliss
She jumped well and travelled nicely. We had to ride for luck and I thought we hit the front but she just peaked late.
Race 9: Cambridge Stud Zabeel Classic
Hiflyer Jonathan Parkes
The shower of rain probably didn't help and back to 1600m will better suit.
Race 10: Coca-Cola 1200
Elusive Treasure Trudy Thornton
It was a huge run, especially with the gap between runs, he has a big heart and he will go places.
