Pakuranga Hunt Raceday: Harrison Lane Hurdle jockey comments

We spoke to jockeys competing in the Harrison Lane Hurdle at Pakuranaga Hunt Raceday to get their comments on how the race went.

1st Monarch Chimes Shaun Phelan

It was a good step up from a horse coming through the grades. On that, he will be hard to beat in the Great Northern.

2nd El Corby Gary Walsh

Awesome. He went great for a young up and coming jumper.

3rd Just Got Home Stuart Higgins

He was extremely honest. It's a bit tough when you get these younger, up and coming hurdlers in better at the weights, but he was great.

4th D'Llaro Brad McLean

He went good. His jumping and action were great. I'm looking forward to the Great Northern in two weeks.

5th Hesalljazz Hamish McNeill

He's a lovely horse. He went super considering he only broke his maiden last start.

6th Raisafuasho Emily Farr

He went very very well, he finished off huge. They just went a touch too quick for him early. That sets him up nicely for the Northern.

7th Fast Catch Mathew Cropp

It was just a bit quick for him. He needs a heavier track.

8th The Shackler Aaron Kuru

It was a long time between runs but he also didn't handle the track.

9th Shamal Charlie Price

The ground was just too good for him. We are still trying to get him right.

10th Old Countess Will Gordon

She was fair.

11th Coolibah Isaac Lupton

We tried to ride him off the speed today with the pace makers that were in there. Unfortunately it didn't work out.

12th Top Choice James Seivright

The ground was just too good for him.

Last Thatz David Stephan Karnicnik

We had a lovely run in transit. However down the back straight when they quickened he couldn't go with them on the better surface.
