This competition was won on the night by Kay McGarth who scored herself a prize valued at over $2,000 after picking Dynastic to win the DoubleTree by Hilton Karaka Million 2YO. 


Kay's prize includes her own private cottage suite for one night at Wharekauhau Country Estate Palliser Bay for two people, a three course dinner and Wharekauhau’s famous farmhouse breakfast plus a travel credit.

Event information

  • Children under 15 years get free general admission 

  • Senior citizen general admission rates apply at the gate on the day but are subject to availability 

  • Free car-parking is available on course on a first-in, first-served basis. Vehicles parked on site are parked at their own risk

  • We strongly encourage guests taxi to the racecourse. Don’t drink and drive, use our preferred taxi supplier, Auckland Co-op Taxis, who will drop off / pick up at the main entrance outside Gate 6. Call 09 300 3000 to book

  • Ellerslie Racecourse is also located close to public transport networks including the Greenlane Train Station which is a 600m walk away

  • You're able to bring your own picnic food & unopened, non-alcoholic beverages into outdoor general admission (public) areas on course & can purchase alcoholic beverages from bars on site. There are a number of food outlets on site too

  • We are a fully-licensed venue and BYO alcohol is not permitted. We encourage responsible drinking and intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into, or tolerated while in, the racecourse grounds

  • A dress code is in place in all hospitality areas and certain other areas including the Ascot Stand and at the after-race functions on course. While we hate turning people away, the dress code will be enforced as required and entry will be refused if it is not adhered to. Please ensure anyone you are purchasing tickets for is aware of this

  • After the last race bars will remain open. Racegoers* are also welcome to move from where they are into Cuvée** where Jetski Safari then a band will keep things going, the Cavallo Club or The Winning Post Bar**

    • ​* Entry terms, restrictions & limitations may apply. R18, dress code applies, intoxicated persons not permitted or tolerated at any time, entry subject to capacity

    • ** After the last race General Admission bars will remain open and those ticketholders can also go into The Cavallo Club. General Admission tickets will not provide entry into The Winning Post Bar or Cuvée after the last race 

  • Tickets are non-refundable except for under circumstances outlined in the Terms & Conditions

  • Promotional photographs, social media content & film footage will be taken at this event. By entering the racecourse, eventgoers consent to use of their image by the Club & New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for promotional purposes

  • Ellerslie Racecourse is operating as a “vaccination required venue” while Auckland operates under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ("traffic light" system), or similar. As a result, racegoers will be required to present a valid COVID-19 Vaccine Pass along with a suitable form of photographic identification in order to be able to enter the racecourse.
