CANCELLATION OF RACEDAY AT ELLERSLIE | Raceday shifting to Waikato’s Te Rapa Racecourse
This decision has been made in keeping with current Government regulations around the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications on both large social gatherings and border restrictions which will remain in effect on the scheduled event date of 2 November 2021.

For the thousands that descend onto Ellerslie Racecourse for Melbourne Cup Day each year, they experience an event that is part party; part raceday & like nowhere else in Auckland.
It sold out last year with some hospitality precincts selling out as early as August, and all signs have pointed to another sell-out event in 2021.
Jarden Melbourne Cup Day offers guests a welcome excuse to dress up, enjoy the finest in hospitality & entertainment, watch the Melbourne Cup live and, what’s more, experience a thrill offered nowhere else in Auckland that day – actual horse racing taking place right in front of their very eyes.
Add to that the best in fashion one fully-subscribed "after the last race party" and you’ve got Auckland’s biggest & most authentic Melbourne Cup Day party.
11.00am - Racecourse gates open
12.00pm - First race (of 10) at Te Rapa
5.00pm (approx) - Lexus Melbourne Cup race (broadcast live)
6.09pm - Last race

A day at the races offers an excuse to dress up like nowhere else & Jarden Melbourne Cup Day is no different.
You're able to bring your own picnic food & unopened, non-alcoholic beverages into outdoor general admission (public) areas on course & can purchase alcoholic beverages from bars on site. There are a number of food outlets on site too
Children under 15 years get free general admission
Tickets are non-refundable
A dress code is in place in all hospitality areas and certain other areas including the Ascot Stand. While we hate turning people away, the dress code will be enforced as required and entry will be refused if it is not adhered to. Please ensure anyone you are purchasing tickets for is aware of this.
All bars close shortly after the last race, except Cuvée & the Winning Post Bar. All guests on course are welcome to join the official on-site after party in Cuvée (R18, dress code applies, intoxicated persons will not be permitted)
We are a fully-licensed venue and BYO alcohol is not permitted
We encourage responsible drinking
Intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into Ellerslie Racecourse
We strongly encourage you to taxi to the track and leave your car at home. Don’t drink and drive, use our preferred taxi supplier Auckland Co-op Taxi who will drop off / pick up at the main entrance. Ring 09 300 3000 to book
Ellerslie Racecourse is located close to public transport networks including the Greenlane Train Station which is a 600m walk away
Free car-parking is available on course on a first-in, first-served basis.
Promotional photographs, social media content & film footage will be taken at this event. By entering the racecourse, event-goers consent to use of their image by the Club & New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for promotional purposes
