Shake your shamrock; the Irish Raceday Party is back!
Each year, Ellerslie Racecourse explodes in a sea of green when Auckland’s Irish contingent (and their friends) descend upon the course for their annual raceday knees-up.
Apparently there are only two kinds of people in the world, the Irish and those who wish they were, so we’re again channelling our inner leprechauns for the return of our immensely popular & colourful Irish festivities.
With a best dressed competition, an Irish Dance performance, Irish band, suitably Irish-themed food & beverages available for purchase, MC Will Hall on hand to remind you when the races are running AND free buses taking you to the official after-party at Doolan Brothers Newmarket... it's New Zealand's biggest Irish Raceday Party and it keeps getting bigger each year.
PLUS general admission (includes access into the Irish Party) is free and free parking is available***
11.00 am - Gates open & the Irish party starts (Newmarket Room)
12.18 pm - First race of eight

The Loop Duty Free Best Dressed
If you're dressed to impress (in raceday attire), you're in with a chance to win!
Our good friends at The Loop Duty Free are putting up a fab prize for the person our roaming judges deem to be the day's best dressed.
Just remember, while you're more than welcome to go all-out & get into your 'fancy dress' for the Irish Party, the judges will be looking for the best 'raceday' outfit.
Not sure where to start your winning look?
Check out our blog where, over the course of the summer, some of the country's best dressed racegoers have given us their tips on what to wear to the races
While an official dress code does not apply to the Irish Party, it's a day at the races and people are encouraged to dress up or at least look tidy. If you're planning on being in other areas (including the Ascot Stand), a dress code may apply. Check out the dress code
You're able to bring your own picnic food, chairs, rugs (etc) & unopened, non-alcoholic beverages into outdoor public areas on course & can purchase alcoholic beverages from bars on site. There are a number of food outlets on site too
