Affordable weekend entertainment for all the family

A day at the races is the perfect way to spend quality time with family and enjoy a fun day out.

All our events offer:
  • Free general admission for under 15-year-olds

  • A free bouncy castle and swing ball games for the little ones to enjoy between races

  • Free parking

  • Free access into our stabling area (within the public access-ways) so you can go visit every horse that's racing and wish them luck

  • The ability to bring your own food, unopened non-alcoholic beverages, as well as chairs, umbrellas, picnic rugs, (etc) to outdoor general admission areas

    • We also have some picnic tables and chairs on our public lawns for your use (first-in, first-served) plus you get access to the outdoor grandstand seating of the Ellerslie Stand​

    • You can also purchase food, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages on site

  • A relaxed dress code in all general admission areas (shorts and jandals are absolutely fine!)​

  • AND the incredible sporting spectacle of the top-class horse racing that will take place right before your very eyes

Event information

  • You're able to bring your own picnic food & unopened, non-alcoholic beverages into outdoor general admission (public) areas on course & can purchase alcoholic beverages from bars on site. There are a number of food outlets on site too

  • Children under 15 years get free general admission

  • Tickets are non-refundable

  • A dress code is in place in all hospitality areas and certain other areas including the Ascot Stand. While we hate turning people away, the dress code will be enforced as required and entry will be refused if it is not adhered to. Please ensure anyone you are purchasing tickets for is aware of this

  • All bars close shortly after the last race, except Cuvée & the Winning Post Bar. All guests on course are welcome to join the official on-site after party in Cuvée (R18, dress code applies, intoxicated persons will not be permitted)

  • We are a fully-licensed venue and BYO alcohol is not permitted

  • We encourage responsible drinking

  • Intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into Ellerslie Racecourse

  • We strongly encourage you to taxi to the track and leave your car at home. Don’t drink and drive, use our preferred taxi supplier Auckland Co-op Taxi who will drop off / pick up at the main entrance. Ring 09 300 3000 to book

  • Ellerslie Racecourse is located close to public transport networks including the Greenlane Train Station which is a 600m walk away

  • Free car-parking is available on course on a first-in, first-served basis.

  • Promotional photographs, social media content & film footage will be taken at this event. By entering the racecourse, event-goers consent to use of their image by the Club & New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for promotional purposes

Infield Family Zone

This fun area offers a relaxed, 'DIY' vibe to the day along with free activities for younger family members to enjog.

You can bring your own picnic food (no BYO alcohol but unopened, non-alcholic beverages are okay), umbrellas, gazebos & deck chairs into this area.
