Barfoot & Thompson
Auckland Cup Day
You missed it!
EVENT CHANGES DUE TO GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS AROUND THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The Auckland region is currently sitting under the “Red” setting within the Government’s COVID-19 Protection Framework and with no date set for when the region may move to ‘Orange’, we have made the decision to restrict entry to Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup Day.
Under this setting, events using the vaccine passport system cannot hold gatherings of more than 100 people in any one defined space.
As a result, changes or cancellations have been applied to hospitality precincts and / or ticketing options in order to ensure the event can be safely conducted under the requirements of events at “Red”.
In addition, while the day’s racing will go ahead, cancellations have been made to off-track activities such as fashions in the field, all general admission areas and children's entertainment.
The racecourse will be operating as a ‘Vaccine Required Venue’ with entry conditions applying – details of which can be found here.
Further requirements of racegoers, including how the Club plans to operate under these conditions, will be included in ticket purchaser letters.
TICKETING & HOSPITALITY
Primary ticket purchasers will be contacted directly by the Club with regards to refunds* and / or the offer to purchase tickets (where available) into those hospitality precincts that will operate under “Red”. Those people, along with Club members, will be given the first right to purchase any available tickets (on a first-in, first-served basis), with those who have previously signed up to hear about new ticket releases being contacted shortly thereafter.
* The refund request cut-off is 5.00pm, Friday 25th February.
Owners will be allocated the Newmarket Bar & Lawn and will be required to RSVP their attendance. They will be contacted directly by the Club with regards to entry conditions and RSVP details.
Those members who wish to attend and be based in one of the dedicated members’ rooms – as opposed to a hospitality precinct - will also be required to RSVP their attendance. Members who have previously supplied the Club with an email address and have not ‘unsubscribed’ from Club communications will have received an email from the Club outlining RSVP and entry conditions.
Sponsors will be contacted directly by the Club’s sponsorship manager with regards to this event.
The big race, the great day and one final hurrah to one incredible summer of racing.
Cheer on our athletes as they vie for Auckland Cup Week's® namesake silverware and their place in the history books in the $500K Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup®.

Tickets & hospitality
Limited hospitality precincts each seating a maximum of 100 people (excl. staff) in accordance with the COVID-19 Protection Framework 'Red' setting have been released for public sale & will be available on a first-in, first-served basis.
"Dress to the nines with a touch of blue if you choose"
Racegoers are encouraged to dress to the style theme and although it's not required, it's a great place to start if you aren't sure about what to wear.
A dress code applies in many areas including the Ascot Stand and hospitality precincts. While we hate turning people away, this will be enforced as required.
You're able to bring your own picnic food & unopened, non-alcoholic beverages into outdoor general admission (public) areas on course & can purchase alcoholic beverages from bars on site. There are a number of food outlets on site too
Tickets are non-refundable
A dress code is in place in all hospitality areas and certain other areas including the Ascot Stand. While we hate turning people away, the dress code will be enforced as required and entry will be refused if it is not adhered to. Please ensure anyone you are purchasing tickets for is aware of this
We are a fully-licensed venue and encourage responsible drinking. BYO alcohol is not permitted and intoxicated persons will not be granted entry into, or permitted at any time within, the grounds
We strongly encourage cars be left at home and alternative methods of transport are chosen. Ellerslie Racecourse is located close to public transport networks including the Greenlane Train Station which is a 600m walk away. Taxis are also able to drop off and pick up on site
Free car-parking is available on course on a first-in, first-served basis
Promotional photographs, social media content & film footage will be taken at this event. By entering the racecourse, event-goers consent to use of their image by the Club & New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for promotional purposes
Event terms & conditions apply
Ellerslie Racecourse will be operating as a “vaccination required venue” while Auckland operates under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ("traffic light" system), or similar. As a result, racegoers will be required to present a valid COVID-19 Vaccine Pass along with a suitable form of photographic identification in order to be able to enter the racecourse.
